About the Artist

Hello, Welcome to my website.

I have been an artist from my earliest memories.   My slogan "I specialize in not specializing" means I love to use many types of art until another calls to me.  Once I discovered digital photography, it became my main medium.  Photography is a bridge for me tying all the other medium together.  It captures the moment utilizing all the components of fine art- Color, Composition, and Contrast.  The eye of the artist recognizes the subject.

I started with pencil drawings utilizing library books for drawing lessons and subject matter.  Sculpture in clay in from my back yard after reading about how the indigenous people made clay was next.  I used whatever was around me.  Wire from clothes hangers was bent to make animal and free forms.  One wire sculpture was put on display in a museum while I was still in elementary school.  Painting with watercolor sets was taught to illustrate lessons.  Middle school and high school offered art classes but I did not have room in my schedule in the College Tract for art.  I joined the art clubs.  I was in the band as a saxophone player so my strict parents would let me go to football games and be with my friends.

I made a promise to myself to Major in art or I would not go to College!  I graduated with a University of the Pacific B.A. in Art with a minor in Education and a CA Life Credential in Elementary Education.  In 2003 I retired from teaching, While teaching I made sure every class I taught had art and music included in my curriculum.  I volunteered with the Seaside Art Commission and stepped down as chairperson when I was hired as the Art Director for the City of Seaside.  The City of Seaside continues to employ me as an Art Coordinator to manage the Art Exhibits and Art Programs for the City of Seaside which has an art gallery in its City Hall.

I have a series of paintings created to fill out the Black History Month Exhibit at City Hall  About 10 years ago I founded the Seaside Artists Association to manage the Seaside Artist Tour which the City was no longer able to staff.   The Pandemic has created real challenges for artists while creating the opportunity to expand the artist and customer base by taking it global.  I joined Arts Storefronts because I recognize that potential
